AI Runways, Riyadh Fashion Week & What’s Next

FashionTech Middle East Newsletter

Issue 2: October 2025

When we started FTME, our mission was simple: bring together the worlds of fashion and emerging technology, and shine a light on how this intersection is reshaping our industry in the region.

Welcome Reader to the October edition of the FashionTech Middle East newsletter. From AI-runways and digital showrooms to Saudi Arabia’s rising role as a global fashion hub, the intersection of creativity and innovation has never felt more dynamic.

Global FashionTech News: Miami Fashion Week 2025

At the October edition of Miami Fashion Week, organisers leaned into technology like never before, combining AI-generated visuals, immersive 3D environments, and hybrid virtual runways to showcase collections that blurred the line between physical and digital fashion.

As reported by Forbes, this year’s event wasn’t just a tech milestone but also a statement on sustainability. By using virtual production and digital show formats, designers dramatically reduced the environmental footprint of traditional runway logistics while still engaging a global audience. The integration of AI-driven content creation also enabled more efficient storytelling and sample management, reinforcing that digital fashion can be both innovative and responsible.

Regional Spotlight: Saudi Ambition & Middle Eastern Innovation

Saudi Arabia: Riyadh Fashion Week Takes Centre Stage

From 16-21 October, the third edition of Riyadh Fashion Week brought together more than 30 Saudi and international designers, including European heavyweights like Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney, marking the country’s most globally visible fashion moment to date.

While craft and heritage dominated the aesthetic, innovation played a quiet but powerful role behind the scenes: from digital show production and livestreaming tech to global-scale logistics and audience engagement analytics. Riyadh Fashion Week has elevated the region’s creative and technical benchmark.

Fashiontex Expo Drives Fashion-Tech Manufacturing

Held in Jeddah, the Saudi Fashiontex Expo showcased the Kingdom’s growing strength in textiles, sustainability, and fashion manufacturing technology. With over 550 exhibitors from 25 countries, the event spotlighted smart fabrics, automation, and digital sourcing tools, all part of Saudi’s Vision 2030 plan to build a complete fashion ecosystem.

The Expo highlights Saudi Arabia’s ambition to move beyond being a consumer market into becoming a fashion-tech production hub. This creates new opportunities for regional startups in materials innovation, logistics, and supply-chain transparency.

✨ FTME Updates

FashionTech Salon

In October, we hosted our first FashionTech Salon – an intimate dinner at Eugene Eugene restaurant in Dubai that brought together founders, creatives, and industry leaders from across fashion, retail, and technology.

The evening captured exactly what we set out to build with FashionTech Middle East: quality conversations, shared learning, and a growing community at the intersection of fashion and innovation.

Guests joined from across the region’s ecosystem, spanning AI trend platforms, logistics innovators, luxury e-commerce, and fashion-tech startups such as Enstyle.AI, Primis.CX, YU.SH, Ounass, Asyad Express, Brinc, and more. Discussions touched on how fast AI adoption is moving through the fashion value chain, from design and manufacturing to post-purchase experience.

We left inspired by the energy, openness, and curiosity in the room, and even more motivated to continue building this dialogue in the Middle East.

FashionTech Middle East at Next in Vogue Singapore

In mid-October, Karin represented FashionTech Middle East at Next in Vogue Singapore, a two-day conference celebrating the region’s creative energy and bold vision for the future.

The event featured some of Asia’s most inspiring names, including Robert Wun, Toton Januar, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, and Prabal Gurung, who shared insights on innovation, identity, and the global rise of Asian design.

We were also honoured to serve on the jury for the Vogue Innovation Prize, recognising pioneers shaping the future of fashion and technology. Congratulations to ARXY, this year’s winner - a virtual showroom redefining how fashion is discovered and experienced in digital form.

The weekend culminated with Vogue Singapore’s 5th-anniversary gala, a celebration of five years of redefining luxury through a distinctly Asian lens. From thought-provoking panels to unforgettable runway moments, Next in Vogue captured the spirit of collaboration driving Asia’s fashion future, and reflected the growing creative and tech synergies between Asia and the GCC.

A note from Karin & Liya June felt like the unofficial fashiontech/culturetech conference month. From New York to Paris, Cannes and Basel, the same themes surfaced again and again. AI is moving beyond experimentation into practical deployment. Creators are becoming long-term brand partners rather than campaign add-ons. And technologies like virtual try-on and smart glasses are beginning to break into the mainstream. Market Not Convinced About Snap’s Glasses Snap unveiled its latest generation...

A note from Karin & Liya At the much-anticipated Google I/O conference, much of the conversation was about… shopping. Universal Shopping Cart, AI agents, shoppable YouTube and smart glasses all pointed to the same trend: AI is increasingly becoming the layer between consumers and commerce. Closer to home, we noticed a similar shift at The Fashion Masterclass event. While it was not a technology event, discussions around buying, merchandising, media and brand building all included a technology...

A note from Karin & Liya And breathe… With a ceasefire reached, the region finally got a moment to pause and regain its balance. In Dubai, life has largely returned to normal, cafés are buzzing, meetings are back, and the rhythm of the city is starting to feel familiar again. But the fashion industry has been quiet this month. In many ways, it felt like a reset. A moment to process, recalibrate, and reflect on how quickly conditions can shift, both operationally and culturally. What stood out...
